Project Lia: growing and changing lives

Project Lia featured on WISH TV Morning Show. The program showed the impact of the project empowering women and sustaining the environment, but also the last update: the project is growing and has moved into a new space in the Circle City Industrial Complex.

Project Lia is one of the 10 finalists of the Prophetic Economy Award 2018. They're a social enterprise located in Indianapolis, dedicated to repurposing discarded material into one-of-a-kind home and office furnishings as part of a job training program for formerly incarcerated women.

Transforming Material, Transforming Lives

Project Lia works with formerly incarcerated women. "Coupled with societal stigmas and discrimination, formerly incarcerated women find themselves with few avenues to overcome the reentry into the workforce" they say. But they don't care just about the women. They have chosen discarded material to work with.

"The EPA estimates that 75% of the American waste stream is recyclable, but we only recycle about 30% of it! And with the US being #1 trash-producing country in the world, we have a lot of work to do" they add.

"When we empower women and sustain the environment, we IMPACT THE COMMUNITY" is one of the Project Lia slogans.

Actually, Project Lia goes beyond employment, it also provides educational opportunities.

It also helps create positive relationships within the community through partnerships with other organizations and volunteers.

Congratulations to Project Lia for making an idea a reality that is growing and turning it into a prophetic project!
